Resident of The Villages sentenced in disturbance at City Fire

A resident of The Villages has been sentenced in connection with a disturbance at a popular nightspot.

Matthew Stephen Seybuck, 43, of the Village of Buttonwood, pleaded no contest earlier this month in Sumter County Court to charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was sentenced to 28 days in jail with credit for 28 days already served.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded at about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 to City Fire at Lake Sumter Landing. Patrons at the establishment reported that a male patron had been behaving in a suspicious manner, according to an arrest report. It was feared he might have a concealed firearm. A pedestrian near City Fire told deputies that the man “approached her aggressively and appeared visibly angry.” The man bumped the pedestrian as he passed by, the report said.

Seybuck returned to City Fire, but as he was walking toward the establishment, he spotted a squad car and attempted to change direction, walking away at a rapid pace…
