A Fruitland Park man was arrested for assault after allegedly pointing a gun at someone’s head and firing it into the ground.
Deputies responded to an armed disturbance involving 54-year-old Clay Vereen Williamson at 5451 Catfish Lane, Fruitland Park, around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim advised that Williamson held a gun to his head and fired a weapon near his feet. He also fired a round into an unoccupied structure. He was still inside the residence with several weapons, leading deputies and Fruitland Park officers to surround the area and demand he come out, the report said.
Williamson did as he was told without incident, leading to the discovery of a North American Arms .22 MAG revolver in his waistband. They also found two spent 9mm casings. One was in the rocks southwest of a fishpond near the dwelling, and the other was in the rocks west of the paved driveway, the report said…
