Intoxicated man arrested after instigating a fight at bar in Leesburg

A Yalaha man was arrested for disorderly intoxication after instigating a fight at Marmaduke’s Lodge.

Officers responded to Marmaduke’s Lodge, located at 215 W Main St., regarding a suspicious person around 11:50 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Dispatch advised that 48-year-old Saidel Perez was intoxicated and causing a disturbance. He was also arguing with customers and others at the pub, eventually getting into a fight.

Upon arrival, a large crowd directed the officers toward Perez who was stumbling around and trying to fight multiple people. One of the officers was able to grab his left hand and put it behind his back. He quit resisting and was detained for further investigation, the report said.

Perez slurred his words and smelled of alcohol as he repeatedly asked the officers to let him go so he could “go get them.” They instead escorted him to a patrol vehicle to calm down. When asked for his name and date of birth, he could not pronounce either. He only mumbled words until his wife came up and gave them the information, the report said…
