Nearly 10% of Ocala Electric Utility’s customers lost service Monday afternoon after two substations in the utility’s West District experienced a brief outage, according to city spokesperson Gregory Davis.
“This afternoon, two substations in Ocala Electric Utility’s West District experienced a power outage. The affected substations were Ocala Palms 1 and Ocala Palms 2,” Davis said in a statement.
The outage began at 1:55 p.m. and ended at 2:09 p.m., lasting 14 minutes. A total of 5,493 customers lost power, including 1,830 at Ocala Palms 1 and 3,663 at Ocala Palms 2. Ocala Electric Utility serves a total of 56,794 meters…
