Armed felon busted with methamphetamine outside Wildwood Townhomes

A Silver Springs man was arrested with drugs, a firearm and ammunition after being stopped at Wildwood Townhomes.

A deputy observed 50-year-old Jeramie Steven Ruby driving a black Hyundai Sonata eastbound on State Road 44 around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed it was assigned to a blue 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, not the Sonata.

The deputy watched as the vehicle turned into the parking lot of Wildwood Townhomes, located at 301 E Gulf Atlantic Hwy., Wildwood. He then spoke to Ruby who advised that he was not driving. He claimed the driver took the keys and went to Sunoco, located at 900 S Main St., Wildwood, the report said.

A K-9 then sniffed around the outside of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. As a result, Ruby and the passenger were asked to step out. The deputy noticed the key to the vehicle in the driver’s seat where Ruby was sitting, the report said…
