Out-of-area driver arrested near gate on Historic Side of The Villages

A driver from out of the area was arrested near a gate on the Historic Side of The Villages.

Lloyd Francis Nelson, 41, of Port Richey, was driving a red Mercury passenger car at about 1 p.m. Wednesday near the Jeffrey Gate when an officer noticed he was not wearing a seatbelt, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. When the officer turned around to initiate a traffic stop, Nelson had pulled to the side of the road and was “digging through the trunk” of his vehicle.

A computer check revealed that Nelson’s license had been suspended in July. He also has previous convictions for driving while license suspended in 2010 and 2011 in Volusia County…
