Oxford man lands in jail after caught driving on suspended license

An Oxford man was arrested for violating his probation after being stopped for driving with a suspended license.

A deputy observed 30-year-old Rosheem Alachino Caquias driving a black Hyundai sedan in Wildwood at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the registration revealed it was expired, and Caquias’s license was suspended on Sept. 8 for failure to pay court financial obligations.

The deputy began to follow Caquias southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard before stopping him at the intersection of Gray and Lynum Streets. His vehicle smelled like marijuana as the deputy spoke to him, during which he stated he did not have his license on him. When told it was suspended, he advised that he believed it to be from his previous court cases, the report said.

Further investigation determined Caquias is on active felony probation out of Bushnell until Aug. 15, 2027, for the sale/manufacture/delivery of marijuana, the report said…
