Criminal cases against three people associated with the Il Villagio internet cafe in Lady Lake could be a model for a crackdown elsewhere in the state.
“This is not an isolated case,” said Carl Herold, director of the Florida Gaming Commission’s Division of Gaming Enforcement. “There are these all over the state of Florida. There is a great deal of impetus for us to close them down.”
Herold spoke Friday at a press conference called by State Attorney Bill Gladson to review the Il Villagio case.
Seven other internet cafes in Sumter County lost appeals of their permit revocations earlier this month, but Gladson said no criminal case is pending against any other internet cafes in the county…
