Woman arrested after drugs found in her purse in stop at bar on State Road 44

An Ocklawaha woman was arrested after a K-9 unit sniffed out narcotics in her purse during a traffic stop at a bar on State Road 44.

A deputy observed a silver Nissan, in which 47-year-old Elizabeth Lynn Young was traveling as a passenger, headed westbound on State Road 44 in Wildwood around 10 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The driver’s side headlight was not working, leading to a traffic stop in the parking lot of Dani’s Sports Bar & Grill.

The deputy approached the vehicle to speak with Young and the male driver as a K-9 unit arrived on scene. The K-9 sniffed around the outside of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics, after which the vehicle was searched, the report said.

The deputies found a clear baggie with less than 20 grams of marijuana in Young’s Coach bag, a black bag under the passenger seat containing a blue box with methamphetamine, two straws, a dollar bill and a credit card, the report said…
