Habitual traffic offender with suspended license caught driving without taillights

A Leesburg woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped in a vehicle without taillights.

A deputy observed 46-year-old Carla Gail Fitzgerald driving a grey Honda passenger car with no taillights on County Road 473 around 10 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

As a result, the deputy stopped the vehicle on Memory Lane. Fitzgerald stated she did not have a driver’s license but was able to hand over an ID, the report said.

Dispatch then advised that she was a habitual traffic offender with a suspended license. She had previous convictions for driving with a suspended license. Her eight suspensions dated from April 2024 through Aug. 2025 for offenses like fail to pay financial obligation and flee or attempt to elude police officer, the report said…
