Convicted felon apprehended with gun during traffic stop in Leesburg

A convicted felon in Leesburg was arrested after an officer discovered a loaded firearm next to him during a traffic stop.

An officer observed 53-year-old William Anderson driving a white Toyota Corolla around 10:55 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. As he turned from Waitman Avenue onto Beecher Street, he did not come to a complete stop at the intersection. The vehicle’s tag light was also not illuminating the registration.

Seeing this, the officer stopped the vehicle near C & H Neighborhood Groceries, located at 802 Beecher St. Anderson seemed nervous to talk to the officer, as his hands shook while he gathered his registration paperwork. He also mentioned the officer had already stopped him for the same violation and acknowledged he had not fixed the issue with the tag lights, the report said…
