Man allegedly strangles fiancé when he runs out of narcotics in hotel room

A Leesburg man was arrested for battery after allegedly strangling his fiancé while lashing out over narcotics.

An officer responded to an undisclosed Leesburg hotel around 2:35 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, he found the fiancé of 44-year-old Cardell Marcus Singeltary standing outside. He immediately noticed the right side of her shirt collar was stretched and ripped.

She advised that that Singletary, who she had been dating for 10 months, “mushed” her and choked her until she passed out. He ran away on foot, and she was unsure which direction he went, the report said.

When asked to clarify, she stated he recently started taking drugs and had not been acting like his normal self. They were in their room that day when he realized he did not have any narcotics left and lashed out at her. He “came at” her, choked her, grabbed her face and pushed her down before spitting in her face, the report said…
