Walmart beer and toilet paper thief sentenced to 90 days in jail

A man who stole beer and toilet paper from the Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Danny Scott Hollins, 66, was sentenced this past month in Sumter County Court after pleading no contest to a charge of theft. He was given credit for 10 days already served.

Hollins was at the Walmart on June 2 with 56-year-old Michele Marchese, who has a long history of committing theft, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Hollins and Marchese both took carts into Walmart and loaded them with items. They left the store without paying for the merchandise. Hollins was seen on surveillance loading stolen merchandise into a vehicle, including Angel Soft toilet paper and Coors Light beer. Hollins and Marchese got away, but surveillance images of them were turned over to law enforcement.

Later in June, Marchese was arrested at Publix at Spanish Plaines Shopping Center in The Villages. While she was behind bars, a deputy confronted her with surveillance images from the June 2 Walmart heist. She identified Hollins as her accomplice…
