DUI suspect with empty box of beer in trunk stopped for speeding

A Fruitland Park woman was arrested for DUI after admitting to having four beers that night with an empty box of Bush in her trunk.

An officer caught 54-year-old Mary Elizabeth Farlow speeding in a silver car on Picciola Road at 2 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Radar determined she was going 52mph in a 40-mph zone.

After stopping the vehicle, he saw Farlow had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol. He asked if she had been drinking, to which she admitted to having four beers earlier that night. She agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises but was unable to follow instructions, the report said.

A criminal history check later revealed she had two prior convictions for DUI from July 13, 1992, and Aug. 4, 2014. She also had a prior refusal to submit to chemical test from Oct. 8, 1991, the report said…
