A hit-and-run suspect with a bogus story was arrested at a recreation center in The Villages.
A woman driving a red Mini Cooper was involved in a crash at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with a black Mercury Milan at the intersection of U.S. 301 and County Road 466, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the Mercury Milan kept going. The woman driving the Mini Cooper provided a description of the other driver and a partial license plate number.
A short time later, the Sumter County Dispatch Center received a report of an accident at the Lake Miona Recreation Center. A deputy went to investigate the crash and noticed that the black Mercury Milan found at the recreation center had front-end damage. The damage was consistent with the description of the accident which had occurred at U.S. 301 and County Road 466. The driver of the Mercury Milan, 24-year-old Dyness Leshon Rose Foster of Fruitland Park, claimed she’d been in an accident, but did not indicate it the accident at U.S. 301 and County Road 466. She described a different crash at a different location.
A grille emblem and turn lamp were recovered from the scene of the crash at U.S. 301 and County Road 466. The car parts were taken to the recreation center where they were found to be a “direct fit and identical in color and design” with Foster’s Mercury Milan…
