Driver who lost license after DUI caught driving vehicle without license plate

A Leesburg man was arrested for driving with a suspended license after being stopped in a vehicle with no license plate.

An officer observed 24-year-old Joshua Mathew Pierr Simpson driving a silver passenger car with no license plate around 12:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, according to an arrest report from the Mount Dora Police Department. This resulted in a traffic stop at Gables Drive and U.S. Hwy 441.

While talking to Simpson, the officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. Simpson stated there was nothing in the car and gave his consent to the vehicle being searched. Nothing was ultimately found, the report said.

He was also asked for his driver’s license, which he did not have due to it being suspended for a DUI on April 13. He then explained that the vehicle had no license plate because he just bought it from Facebook Marketplace earlier that night, the report said…
