A Grand Island teen will appear in court next week for trespassing at Walmart to film a social media prank involving Apple Pay.
An officer responded to Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., regarding a crowd of people recording a video inside the store at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. Staff asked that the suspects, including 19-year-old Emily Bickford, be trespassed.
Upon arrival, the officer met with an asset protection employee who stated three women and a man were inside the store causing a disruption. They were reportedly walking up to customers, tapping their phones near other shoppers’ phones and playing an audible “ding” sound, leading them to believe money had been charged to their Apple Pay accounts.
