Villager back in trouble after caught with shorts down earlier this year

A Villager who was caught with her shorts down earlier this year is back in trouble again.

Amy Lynn Griffing, 67, of the Village of Alhambra, was arrested Tuesday in an alleged shoplifting case at Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.

The Massachusetts native was in the store at about 5 p.m. with reusable shopping bags when she selected merchandise and attempted to leave through the Garden Section without paying for the items, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A door host asked Griffing for a receipt, prompting her to turnaround and head for the main self-checkout aisle. She scanned and paid for some of the items, but not nine items totaling $65.73. When Griffing, who was previously arrested but not convicted on a shoplifting charge in Massachusetts, tried to leave the store, but was confronted by a loss prevention officer who contacted law enforcement. The incident was captured on video surveillance.

Griffing made headlines earlier this year after she was caught with her shorts down and urinating at Lake Sumter Landing. Griffing had her “jean shorts pulled down around her thighs urinating on the ground” in the parking lot of the former Winn-Dixie grocery store. She was found to be intoxicated with open liquor in the vehicle. She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, lost her driver’s license for six months, was placed on probation for one year and was ordered to perform 80 hours of community service…
