A property owner is seeking final approval from Marion County officials to construct a pet cemetery that would feature walking paths, a gazebo, gardens, and monuments.
A special use permit to operate a new pet cemetery will be presented by representatives of the Lawrence E. Nikola Jr. Family Trust to the Marion County Board of County Commissioners during the board’s regular meeting on Tuesday, October 21.
Although it has no address, the 4.4-acre site is located in Summerfield, near the border of Marion County and Sumter County. It is bordered by U.S. 301 to its west, a retention pond and CSX rail line to its east, and residential homes to its south.
