Fruitland Park man busted with methamphetamine and fentanyl

A Fruitland Park man was arrested after being stopped with small bags of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

An officer observed 61-year-old Timothy Nixon fail to stop at the intersection of Urick Street and Olive Avenue at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

After being stopped, Nixon handed over his identification but refused to let the officer search his vehicle. K-9 unit subsequently responded to the scene and alerted to the odor of narcotics. The officer told Nixon to step out of the vehicle, and a search ensued, the report said.

The officer found a small bag of methamphetamine between the driver’s seat and center console, as well as another bag in the top compartment of the center console. A search of Nixon’s person revealed a bag of fentanyl, as well, the report said…
