A pickleball ambassador in The Villages who has spent part of 2025 in jail due to a conflict with a neighbor is now in hot water with Community Standards.
The home of 78-year-old William “Pickleball Billy” Hartig, a well-known USA Pickleball ambassador, was the subject of a deed compliance hearing this week at the District Office at Brownwood.
A complaint was received July 9 by Community Standards regarding overgrown grass, weeds and mold on the homesite. The mold has been removed from the home, but an inspection this week revealed there was still mold on the driveway and a problem remains with overgrown grass and weeds.
Pickleball Billy walked out of the Sumter County Detention Center on June 10 after spending a total of two months and eight days behind bars.
His original arrest came after the Massachusetts native was caught on surveillance crossing onto a neighbor’s property in the Hallandale Villas in the Village of St. Charles, according to arrest reports from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
