A Villager is facing a drunk driving charge after crashing into a light pole in a roundabout.
Brandon Scott Salyer, 52, who lives on the Historic Side of The Villages, was driving a black Chevrolet Spark at about 7 p.m. Tuesday when he crashed into the light pole in the roundabout at Buena Vista Boulevard and Odell Circle near the Lake Miona Recreation Center, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Salyer’s car also collided with another vehicle.
The Kentucky native was “remorseful” about the accident and admitting he had been drinking. He said he’d consumed two to four beers about an hour before the crash.
Salyer agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises, but his poor performance led deputies to conclude he had been driving impaired. He provided breath samples that registered .095 and .096 blood alcohol content…
