Leesburg woman’s drinking lands her in jail for second time this year

A Leesburg woman was arrested for DUI after being stopped for speeding and swaying while talking to law enforcement.

A deputy stopped 37-year-old Aubrey Simone Puryear for speeding in Leesburg around 2:10 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. She did not initially stop when lights and sirens were behind her but rather kept slowly driving. She ultimately came to a stop in the driveway of 818 Montclair Road.

While talking to law enforcement, Puryear could not keep her balance and swayed her body. She also had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. She agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises yet stopped midway due to not wanting to do them anymore, the report said.

The deputy explained the consequences of quitting, and she continued. Her performance led him to conclude she was under the influence. She later refused to provide a breath sample, the report said…
