Driver arrested after ditching suspicious container near Walmart in The Villages

A Fruitland Park man was arrested after ditching a suspicious container while driving near a Walmart in The Villages.

A deputy observed 25-year-old Teryl J’Mari Robinson driving a white Ford passenger eastbound on County Road 466A around 11:55 p.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s tag light was not working.

Seeing this, the deputy initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle turned onto Heald Way. It started to slow, and he saw Robinson throw a black container out of the driver’s window. The vehicle ultimately stopped near Walmart at Sarasota Plaza, the report said.

The deputy approached the vehicle, noticing a black container with blue writing laying on top of a bush next to where he saw Robinson throw something. Robinson denied throwing anything but advised that there was a loaded handgun in the center console, the report said…
