An Okahumpka man was arrested after driving recklessly to avoid being stopped with cocaine in his pants.
An officer observed 27-year-old Nathan Lee Howard driving a silver Chevrolet passenger car southbound on Dixie Avenue at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
The vehicle sped up to 53mph in a 30-mph zone, and as the officer turned around, it accelerated out of sight. Other units searched the area and spotted the vehicle approaching the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard. It had fresh damage to the front passenger side, the report said.
An officer subsequently stopped the vehicle and ordered Howard to turn it off at gunpoint. He was taken out of the vehicle and searched, during which an officer shook his pant leg. A baggie of cocaine fell out. The officers also found a straw for snorting cocaine in his pocket, the report said…
