A resident of the Del Webb Spruce Creek community in Summerfield is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a crash on U.S. 301.
David Paul Luisier, 72, had been driving a silver Subaru at about 6:30 p.m. Oct. 23 on U.S. 301 at SE 140th St. in Summerfied when he drifted into the oncoming lane and sideswiped another vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The other driver had a dash cam video recorded which clearly showed how the crash occurred. The video was turned over to the FHP investigator.
When the investigator approached Luisier’s vehicle, he noticed that Luisier was chewing gum. It appeared he had been drinking. The Wisconsin native agreed to participate in field sobriety exercises, but struggled to keep his balance. He admitted he had consumed two or three vodka lemonades prior to the crash. He provided breath samples that registered .087 and .084 blood alcohol content…
