Two Villagers are spending behind bars after they both made trips to Walmart.

Marilyn Patricia Turner, 81, who lives in the Hydrangea Villas in the Village of St. Charles, will be held at the Sumter County Detention Center until at least Nov. 10. That is when she will have an opportunity to plead her case before a judge in a violation of probation hearing in Sumter County Court. The Kansas native was arrested Oct. 15 after she allegedly attempted to steal 97 items worth $563 from the Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.

Turner is already on felony probation as the result of a 2024 incident in which she fled the same Walmart in her Mercedes SUV with more than $300 in stolen merchandise. She was also convicted of theft in 2017 and 2018.

Meanwhile, 67-year-old Amy Lynn Griffing of the Village of Alhambra, will likely be in jail until Dec. 4. That is when she will have her turn in front of a judge at a violation of probation hearing.

The Massachusetts native was placed on probation earlier this year, after she was found with her shorts down as she was urinating in the parking lot at the former Winn-Dixie at Lake Sumter Landing. She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence…
