Lady Lake man threatens cops investigating altercation

A Lady Lake man was arrested after threatening law enforcement officers who were investigating an altercation.

Colin Charles Martin, 26, was at a residence at an undisclosed location in Sumter County on Friday when he became engaged in a heated argument with another man, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The two men were arguing in the backyard of the residence, when Martin became “physically aggressive,” prompting the other man to climb into his car. Martin, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 200 pounds, went to the driver’s side window of the car and began “actively antagonizing” the other man. A witness later told deputies that Martin struck the other man during the altercation.

When deputies showed up, Martin began screaming at them. He spat on a deputy, hitting him on the side of face, below the eye.
