Ocala man indicted on murder, attempted murder charges in deadly Easter shooting

A 22-year-old Ocala man has been indicted on several charges, including first-degree murder and attempted murder, in connection with a shooting at a Gainesville recreation center on Easter Sunday that claimed the life of a woman.

In August, Gainesville police arrested Kaniel Jeremy Paul Edwards and two other suspects – Gabriel Nehemiah Frazier and Jarrett Kendall Jones, Jr. – for their alleged involvement in the shooting death of 20-year-old Ontaria Baisden, who was killed on Sunday, April 20.

On that date, hundreds of people were attending an Easter egg hunt at the TB McPherson Center (1717 SE 15th Street in Gainesville) when a man wearing red shorts and a gray hoodie shot three people at the venue.

One of the victims, Basiden, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, and she died three days later from her injuries. The two other victims sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening…
