A suspected shoplifter riding a motorized scooter fled Walmart with stolen merchandise.

An employee of Walmart, located at 2502 Citrus Blvd., was monitoring surveillance when he noticed 56-year-old Russell Kott of Ocklawaha in the sporting goods section around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department.

Kott stashed merchandise in his pant pockets before heading to the clothing department. He picked up a pair of tan pants, sat on them in a motorized scooter and left the store. The employee stopped him there and took him to the loss prevention office, where he revealed two more items he did not pay for, the report said…
