81-year-old Villager walks out of jail after 26 days behind bars

An 81-year-old Villager walked out of jail this week after 26 days behind bars.

Marilyn Patricia Turner, who lives in the Hydrangea Villas in the Village of St. Charles, was set free on Monday after appearing in Sumter County Court.

The Kansas native was arrested Oct. 15 after she allegedly attempted to steal 97 items worth $563 from the Walmart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages. Turner was already on felony probation as the result of a 2024 incident in which she fled the same Walmart in her Mercedes SUV with more than $300 in stolen merchandise.

Because the Oct. 15 arrest was considered a violation of her probation, she was booked without bond at the jail. She appeared in court on Monday in a violation of probation hearing. She was sentenced to time served and released…
