Activating a ‘Villager Volunteer’ amenity monitoring squad a really bad idea

I respectfully disagree with the proposal from Supervisor Rocky Hyder.

I recently retired from the Recreation Department as an assistant after eight and a half years. I worked at a regional center which has restricted access to adult residents only, therefore it did not present the potential attraction to younger family use. This did not, however, exclude us from being accused of allowing non-residents to utilize the pool. A small number of the morning regulars would sometime comment that they “knew” a new person that they saw the other day, was not a resident. On some occasions during the day, I would have someone approach me and say that he or she doesn’t look like a resident. This happened on the other various outdoor venues as well. There were times when individuals did not have their Villages ID with them.

In my experience, 90 percent of the time when a person was denied access due to the lack of proper ID, they were understanding and compliant, the other 10 percent were “OFF THE CHART” (none of whom appeared to be less than 65 years old)…
