Man allegedly punches housemate during argument over drug dealers on property

A Summerfield man was arrested for battery after allegedly punching his housemate when she told him to get off the property.

The female housemate of 66-year-old Calvin Dale Hooker told law enforcement that he hit her in the face at their shared residence on Southeast 94th Avenue in Summerfield at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

There had been a verbal altercation where she told him that she was tired of his drug dealers showing up at the house, and he needed to get off the property. He yelled back at her, cursing and calling her “stupid,” before punching her on the left cheek. He then walked away into his room and shut the door, the report said.

Hooker advised that there had only been a verbal argument, from which he separated himself, the report said. The deputy asked if he had the story correct, including the part where he hit his housemate, and he replied, “Yes.” The deputy verified that he affirmed hitting her, to which he stated, “No, I would never hit a woman.”…
