Suspected drug dealer tried to make sales through social media

A Fruitland Park woman has been charged with unlawful use of her phone after a warrant revealed she used social media to sell methamphetamine.

On Oct. 27, 32-year-old Kylie Evelyn Rae Mertz was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

She told law enforcement that she was headed to Candlelight Inn, located at 1306 S 14th St., Leesburg, to sell the 30 grams of methamphetamine found on her person for $135. After getting a search warrant for her phone, an officer found text messages detailing the transaction on her Chime account. The buyer paid $135 on Oct. 27 but requested the money back due to services not received, the report said.

There were multiple texts, TikTok messages and Facebook messages where Mertz advertised that she had “(ice cream emoji) on deck.” This emoji is synonymous with methamphetamine. Additionally, she got several messages from several different people asking for different weights of narcotics, including a “ball,” a “pie” or an “ounce,” to which she replied with her prices, the report said…
