A suspected shoplifter was arrested for theft after walking through self-checkout without paying for $425 in merchandise from Walmart.
Loss prevention employees of Walmart, located at 17961 S U.S. Hwy. 441, Summerfield, caught 42-year-old Leslie Robert Jolliffe stealing around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
One of the employees followed him through the store and saw him walk his cart full of items past self-checkout without paying for any of them. Surveillance footage showed he walked toward self-checkout, went behind a rack of snacks, looked around and then quickly left the store, the report said.
An employee intercepted Jolliffe as he walked out of the entryway with $425.55 worth of merchandise. This included a wrench set, several packs of boxer-brief underwear, packs of undershirts, a water filter, a light strip and a drone, the report said…
