A Dunnellon man will appear in court for covering a $62 price tag on a fishing pole with a clearance sticker at Walmart.
Employees of Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., saw 60-year-old William Leone run out of the store only to return shortly after at 12:45 a.m. Thursday, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department.
They watched as he proceeded to the sporting goods department and grabbed a fishing pole from a shelf. He then took a “clearance” yellow price tag of $31.06 from that fishing pole and put it on a black Lew’s Combo fishing pole, covering its original price tag of $62.12. He used a self-checkout register to scan the fishing pole before being stopped by an employee, the report said…
