A Leesburg man was arrested for assault after threatening to shoot occupants of a grocery store and the officer who came to apprehend him.
Officers were called to C & H Neighborhood Groceries, located at 802 Beecher St., when 59-year-old Johnny Stinson threatened to shoot customers and employees inside around 12 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
The caller told dispatchers that Stinson had a pistol in his pants, then later updated to say it was in his pocket. The report noted officers already responded to a call earlier in the night when he left the store and told law enforcement that he was going to get a firearm from his residence.
An officer arrived on scene a few minutes after getting the call and saw Stinson walking eastbound along Johns Avenue, next to the store. Several males pointed to him, saying he was threatening them, then walked away as law enforcement got closer.
