A Leesburg man who had been deported last year was arrested for firing a gun in a residential neighborhood.
An officer responded to gunshots being fired by 36-year-old Bonifacio Montiel Garcia in a residential neighborhood on James Street around 9:40 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. The residence described by the caller was a blue house with Christmas lights strung outside, located in a densely populated area with multiple occupied homes nearby.
When the officer found the house, he knocked at the front door. A juvenile boy answered and brought a teenage girl to the door, who denied guns being fired at the residence. Moments later, the officer heard multiple shots coming from the backyard, the report said.
The officer proceeded to the back of the residence where he saw several empty cans of alcohol scattered across the lawn. There were also four men standing in a circle, including Garcia. He was holding a black handgun in his right hand with the slide locked to the rear, the report said…
