A suspected shoplifter has been tracked down after fleeing with a cartload of stolen merchandise from a Publix grocery store in The Villages.
Tony Oriana Venus Diamond, 20, of Ocala, was arrested Monday by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies on a charge of theft.
She fled the store at Colony Plaza on Nov. 9 with $63.58 worth of merchandise. A detective investigating the theft observed surveillance footage from the store and found that Diamond had arrived in a gray Chevy Malibu. The surveillance camera captured the vehicle’s license plate. The vehicle was registered to Diamond. The detective compared Diamond’s driver’s license photo to the images of the suspected thief and concluded they were the same person…
