A Leesburg man was arrested Saturday when a failed theft at Marshalls led to another clothing heist at Rural King.
An officer responded to Marshalls, located at 919 N 14th St., for a theft involving 47-year-old Joshua David Harmon around 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. He had cut the anti-theft tool off an item and tried to walk out with a cart full of stuff before being stopped by loss prevention.
Employees later told the officer that Harmon put $199.92 worth of merchandise in his cart, including a six-pack of men’s underwear, sport quarter socks, a six-pack of cotton socks, two black Nike and Columbia hats, a dark brown hat, Bombay black silverware and a seven-pack of Ninja pots, the report said.
He had cut the security cord off the Ninja kitchenware and suspiciously looked around at the managers and loss prevention. When they told staff to move away from the exit, Harmon ran toward it. Loss prevention then forcibly stopped his cart and let him go, after which he ran outside the store away from them, the report said…
