A Howey-in-the-Hills man was arrested for theft after walking out of Walmart with a stolen $119 night vision camera in his pocket.
An asset protection associate informed an officer about 39-year-old Joshua Thomas Tipcke concealing unpaid items on his person at Walmart, located at 2501 Citrus Blvd., at 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department.
Surveillance footage showed Tipcke headed to the Sporting Goods department, picked up a $119 Stealth Cam night vision monocular, opened it and put it in the front left pocket of his vest. He then left the store through the grocery department without paying for anything. As he walked out, the officer detained him and took the monocular out of his pocket, the report said.
A subsequent check of his criminal history revealed he had three convictions for theft fro Aug. 2024, June 2022 and Dec. 2014, the report said…
