Villager sentenced in theft of candle that looks like Christmas tree

A Villager has been sentenced in the theft of a candle that looks like a Christmas tree.

Jodi Lynn Edelbrock, 60, of the Village of Dabney, pleaded no contest this past week in Sumter County Court to a charge of theft. She has been placed on probation for six months and has been ordered to perform 40 hours of community service.

The theft occurred in September at KB Home & Garden store at Magnolia Plaza.

Edelbrock selected a candle that looked like a Christmas tree and put it in a bag she was carrying. The candle was valued at $69.99. She proceeded to the checkout register and paid for an item valued at $18.18. She used a credit card to make the purchase. She made no attempt to pay for the candle, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department…
