New fire station prototypes in Marion County under review

A conceptual plan for a new fire station prototype and a comprehensive fire training facility in Marion County will incorporate modernized living spaces for firefighters, cancer prevention practices, updated station dispatch services, and several other upgraded amenities.

On Monday, Marion County Fire Rescue’s conceptual plans for three prototype stations were presented to the Marion County Development Review Committee.

The county is considering three prototype stations that come in low, medium, and high capacity options. The options range in construction price from $5.94 million (low) to $8.13 million (high), with the medium capacity option estimated to cost $7.07 million.

The low capacity option spans 9,900 square feet , capable of housing one engine and one ambulance for a total of six personnel. The medium capacity option is 11,794 square feet, supporting one engine and two ambulances for a total of eight personnel…
