Convicted felon caught with drugs and ammo in tent behind urgent care in Leesburg

A Leesburg man was arrested when an officer found drugs and ammunition in his tent behind an urgent care center.

An officer checked behind Express Care of Leesburg, located at 2500 Citrus Blvd., due to its high volume of vagrant activity around 3 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. In doing so, he discovered a tent occupied by 27-year-old Kahlil Malik Caswell.

The tent flap was open, meaning he could clearly see Caswell sitting at the entrance. To his left was a gray and black digital scale containing an unknown white powdery residue consistent with narcotics. As the officer spoke to him, he started moving frantically, obviously trying to cover the top portion of the scale with methamphetamine under his left leg, the report said.

After being detained, Caswell denied having any more narcotics in the tent and gave his consent for it to be searched. The officer subsequently found a 30-round magazine with eight rounds of Federal .40 caliber S&W ammunition. A record check revealed Caswell had seven prior felony convictions, meaning he should not have ammunition at all, the report said…
