Felon with 103 grams of cocaine and loaded gun jailed after disturbance in The Villages

A convicted felon with 103 grams of cocaine and a loaded gun was jailed after a disturbance in The Villages.

Officers were called shortly before midnight Sunday to a home in the 1700 block of West Schwartz Boulevard on the Historic Side of The Villages, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. While investigating the report of possible violence in the home, an officer peered in the window and saw 34-year-old Hector Luis Esteves of Summerfield lighting a glass pipe.

Suspecting illicit drug activity, officers entered the home through an open door. Officer handcuffed Esteves, who works as a landscaper. He had a semi-automatic pistol tucked in the pocket of his sweatshirt. It had an extended magazine loaded with 17 rounds. A check of the serial number revealed that the gun had been reported stolen in Seminole County. Esteves claimed he bought the gun “on the street” from “some guy.”

Officers learned that Esteves, who was arrested in 2020 after strangling a woman, is a convicted felon. He admitted that he was aware that as a convicted felon, he is not permitted to possess a firearm…
