Couple’s spat during roadtrip from the Florida Keys lands boyfriend in jail

A Fruitland Park man was arrested for assault after allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a knife at the end of their roadtrip.

Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance involving 52-year-old Eric Andrew Kirik at 2380 Crescent Dr., Mount Dora, at 11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Dispatch advised that he possibly had a knife, and it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were present.

Upon arrival, the deputies met Kirik’s girlfriend of six months who stated the couple had been traveling from the Florida Keys to Mount Dora earlier in the day. They argued throughout the drive, and it continued outside near her vehicle when they got to the apartment complex. Kirik had a knife attached to his pants and threatened to “slice her throat” with it, the report said.

He also threw an unknown item at her vehicle, leaving a dent on the passenger-side door. Due to his threatening behavior, she feared for her life and believed he was not in a stable mental state, the report said…
