WEC owners purchase Ocala horse farm for $7.5 million

The owners of the World Equestrian Center and Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club just purchased a 77-acre horse farm near their other properties in northwest Ocala for $7.5 million.

According to a deed recorded in Marion County on Friday, Golden Ocala Equestrian Land, LLC, purchased the property at 2599 NW 100th Avenue from Julie Ann Smelser for $7,500,000 on December 9, 2025.

The purchaser is a limited liability company based in Wilmington, Ohio, that is one of several corporate entities associated with the Roberts’ family, the founders of the World Equestrian Center (WEC) in Ocala and the Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club.

The acquisition of Smokey Willow Farm, which is just west of the other facilities, further consolidates the group’s ownership of the land surrounding the world-class equestrian venue.
