A woman who had been drinking Merlot at an Applebee’s restaurant in The Villages was arrested after an automobile crash.
The driver of a white Ram, later identified as 69-year-old Beverly Jean Taylor of Ocala, left the scene of a crash with a Hyundai at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She did not leave her information, either, so the other driver took a photo of the Ram’s license plate and called the police.
A nearby officer spotted the Ram truck parked behind 7-Eleven on The Historic Side of The Villages. He saw damage on the driver’s side rear tire that coincided with the damage from the crash, and the tag matched that of the vehicle which fled the scene. Taylor was standing by the vehicle with the keys in her possession, the report said.
When the officer stopped to speak with Taylor, she readily admitted being in a crash. She was unsteady on her feet and smelled strongly of alcohol during the conversation. An assisting officer noticed her eyes were watery, and she slurred her words, as well, the report said…
