Man accused of running from traffic stop claims he was in grandmother’s shed

A Leesburg man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop to his grandmother’s shed to avoid being caught by law enforcement.

A deputy saw 27-year-old Travis Lamont Hanberry driving a white Mitsubishi eastbound in the center lane of U.S. Hwy. 441 around 11:20 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

He watched as the vehicle moved into the right lane without signaling and made a sudden aggressive swerve across all three lanes into the center median. Seeing this, the deputy turned on his lights and sirens for a traffic stop. The vehicle then made a U-turn in front of several vehicles, nearly causing a collision, to quickly flee westbound, the report said.

The deputy ended his pursuit due to safety concerns but overheard on alert describing a white vehicle about four minutes later. The broadcast advised that a man, later identified as Hanberry, got out of this vehicle and fled into woods nearby 211 Church St. The deputy subsequently drove over to see if the vehicle was the same one that had fled from him moments earlier, the report said…
