Jacksonville Weather Service Issues Fog Advisory for Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia

The National Weather Service in Jacksonville has issued a special weather statement alerting residents across northeast and north central Florida and parts of inland southeast Georgia to conditions of locally dense fog that have begun to overspread the area. According to the report published on the NWS website, the low stratus cloud cover is expected to cause visibility issues, particularly south of Waycross, persisting through Saturday morning.

The Special Weather Statement warns motorists of the variability of the fog, which can significantly reduce visibility over short distances. “The nature of the fog is such that visibilities will vary greatly over short distances,” the statement reads. It goes on to recommend that drivers slow down and maintain an extra distance ahead of their vehicles in case of a sudden need to stop. This measure is especially crucial during the overnight and early morning hours when the fog is projected to impact coastal areas by sunrise.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville’s current weather conditions reflect a mostly cloudy sky with humidity readings at 93% and a west wind blowing at 8 mph. Temperatures are anticipated to peak at a comfortable 76°F today, dipping to around 59°F tonight as dense fog sets in after 4 am. The foggy conditions are expected to clear by Sunday morning, making way for a partly sunny day with another high near 76°F…
